Brownfield Grant Writing Tip of the Month (May) - Ranking Criteria #1 - Community Need - Health Effects (Air Quality Report Card - American Lung Association)

For 12 years, the American Lung Association has analyzed data from state air quality monitors to compile the State of the Air report. The more you learn about the air you breathe, the more you can protect your health and take steps to make our air cleaner and healthier.  Click the link below to the "grade" for your community and use it to demonstrate Community Health Effects need for your Brownfield Grant Application.  Note that unhealthy air can contribute to an increase in your community's sensitivity to contaminants at brownfield sites.  If your community has sensitive populations (see Tab on link below entitled "Groups at Risk"), there may be additional consideration by EPA when scoring.
