·    ANNOUNCING New Request for Proposals- FY 2015 Brownfields Area-Wide Planning (BF AWP) Grant Guidelines
EPA is announcing the availability of funding to eligible entities who wish to develop an area-wide plan for brownfields assessment, cleanup, and subsequent reuse. This funding is for research, technical assistance, and/or training activities directed to one or more brownfield site(s) located in a specific area (such as a neighborhood, district, local commercial corridor, community waterfront or city block). EPA anticipates awarding approximately 20 projects in total, funded at up to $200,000 each. INTRODUCING- Ideas and Lessons Learned from the Brownfield Area-Wide Planning Pilot Communities

The EPA Brownfields & Land Revitalization Program is pleased to share the following compilation of ideas and key lessons learned on brownfields area-wide planning (BF AWP), based on the experiences 23 BF AWP pilot communities. Included in this report are ideas, advice and examples on project approaches that the pilot communities found particularly useful, constructive and effective for helping them successfully manage their AWP process and develop a plan implementation strategy. We thank these pilot communities for sharing their experiences, ideas, lessons learned and project pictures.

EPA is also planning to announce another competition for Area-Wide Planning Grants soon! In addition to these new lessons learned documents, we have also prepared a guide to help you get started preparing your Area-Wide Planning Grant Proposal early.
Potential applicants can get a head start with proposal preparation by familiarizing themselves with the document, discussing possible projects with local partners and stakeholders, pulling together important information, and working with their local Brownfields contacts to resolve any questions about brownfields site eligibility. We hope that all of this information will help applicants prepare a thorough, well-organized, and timely proposal.
